Georgia Winery Presents Dread Head Red!

The Georgia Winery has a new dry, red wine added to the line-up! Dread Head Red is a full-bodied wine with lots of character. It is also made at the Georgia Winery’s Farm in the Chattanooga Valley. Dread Head Red is made with the Norton grapes, locally grown in Georgia. An acidic finish follows the fruity flavors of the grapes on this dry wine.

The semi-sweet white wine, Rhett, is also back at the Georgia Winery! This sophisticated wine is made with Cayuga and Niagara grapes. Come by and grab a bottle to perfectly accompany your next dinner. Everyone can benefit from this sweet, subtly dry, handcrafted wine!

Holiday Pairings

The Georgia Winery hand-crafted wines will pair well with your favorite holiday dishes!

First, we have matched Tara Bella, our 100% Muscadine semi-sweet wine, with dressing. The smooth, Southern wine also compliments the star of the show, the turkey, very well.

Next, Scarlett, our semi-sweet combination of Cayuga and DeChenauc grapes, is the perfect addition to your assortment of roasted vegetables, or even a family recipe like homemade pumpkin soup.

A glass of the limited-edition, port inspired Ives Noir will be a wonderful pair to go along with any holiday dessert - especially cinnamon crumb cake!

Southern Blush, our sweet and spicy Southern classic, is ideal when accompanying your fruit salad or even a chocolate dish you have prepared for your family.

The seasonal, Holiday Cheer, a master mix of Muscadine and Cranberries, will be superb when paired with turkey, dressing, or even the holiday favorite, pecan pie.

When looking to find the best match between chocolates and wine, you want to find the blend of flavors that compliment each other ideally. If you are dipping into white chocolate, try it with a glass of our award-winning Georgia on My Mind, a divine combination of Muscadines and Peaches. Milk chocolate covered strawberries or a milk chocolate mousse will pair it with some of our Tail Gate Red! Dark chocolate, which is bittersweet, doesn't naturally pair with white wines, but it is a perfect mix with a glass of Southern Blush.

New Wines!

The Georgia Winery adds a new dry wine to the line up! Merlot, the perfect wine to start out on if you’re new to red wines.  This soft, elegant red wine was made at the Georgia Winery’s farm in the Chattanooga Valley. The grapes used to make this wonderful red are from Washington state. Merlot grapes from Washington state are used in this wine because of the weather elements that help them grow best. Georgia Winery prides itself in growing muscadines organically and obtaining the other varieties of grapes needed from the climates they grow best in in order to create the very best handcrafted wines!

The seasonal wine, Holiday Cheer, is back! A delightful mix of sugary sweet Muscadines and tart cranberries make this a holiday classic. As always, there is a limited supply of Holiday Cheer available in the store and online starting today, November 1st.  Serve chilled or mulled. More new wines coming from the Georgia Winery in 2017!

We're growing!

The Georgia Winery is growing! In the last few weeks they have received more new tanks and will be receiving more this month. New tanks will make a total of ten 3,000 gallon tanks and 4 6,500 gallon tanks, with a plan to get more before 2016 ends. They are tripling our wine production this year to gear up for additional distribution 2017.

Wine in grocery stores in Tennessee has really opened a door up for more distribution and expansion across the southeast. Georgia Winery is now carried in Chattanooga Food City’s and it is in the works to be carried in more chain stores in Chattanooga this year. CEO Tara Taymore says “ In 2011 we signed for Chattanooga and surrounding areas, but wine in grocery stores have opened us up to the entire state.”

Plans for 2017 include a new wine making facility to accommodate the anticipated growth. In the spirit of new growth, the Winery will also be releasing two new dry wines this year! More information on the new wines will be released soon so keep an eye out! To keep up with Winery News regularly, sign up for the email blast on the homepage of the website.

Georgia Winery Wins at Georgia Trustee Wine Challenge!

Georgia Wine Producers, an organization uniting wine producers in Georgia from North to South, has concluded the first annual Georgia Trustees Wine Challenge, and the superlative trophies and best of class certificates were awarded at a gala banquet kicking off the 2015 Savannah Food & Wine Festival in Savannah, GA.

Wineries were honored for wines made from grapes grown in Georgia and for wines made from grapes grown outside the state, but made in Georgia. Banquet attendees came from all over the United States, from California to Wisconsin to Massachusetts and the nation’s capital as well as from Georgia. Judges came from many aspects of the wine industry, including retailers, wine educators, distributors and journalists.

The Georgia Winery competed against 25 other Georgia wineries at the 2015 Georgia Trustees Wine Challenge and had the most awarded sweet wines. Gold medal winners included Chattanooga Blush, Concord and Tara Bella. Silver medal winners include Georgia on my Mind, Niagara and Muscadine. Bronze medal winners include Blackberry Blush, Rawlings Ruby Red and Tailgate Red. Georgia Wine Producers also sponsored the award for “Best Non-Georgia Grown Wine,” which went to the Georgia Winery’s Blackberry wine.

Georgia Winery and Sweet Southern Wine are Growing!

On Monday, November 30th, the Georgia Winery received three new 3,000-gallon stainless steal tanks! After signing on with Empire Distribution back in October of 2014, the request for having Sweet Southern Wine in liquor stores and wine shops throughout the state of Georgia has continued to grow.

The demand for Georgia Winery’s wines has grown so much that they will be receiving 3 more 3,000-gallon tanks in January! These tanks are jacketed and cooled via a glycol as opposed to their standard walk in cooler. This way the Georgia Winery can continue their freeze fermentation process on a larger scale.

“We are gearing up production with hopes to be able to distribute more wine”, says Tara Taymore, Georgia Winery Manager. “We hope to start with home base of Georgia and expand distribution across the Southeast.”

Future plans of expansion for the Georgia Winery include a new warehouse facility to be built in 2016, to hold finished wines and give their now warehouse more space to ferment wine.
