For
you folks who don’t live in the Deep South, you might not
know what a Muscadine is.
For starters, people in these
parts pronounce
it “Musky-dine”. Every year at harvest time, the muscadines fill
the air with their sweet, luscious fragrance.
Harvesting
is difficult when you can’t stop eating the muscadines as you
go... a little for you, a little for me. They’re addicting!

They are the most flavorful grapes you will ever taste.
Sorry, Muscadines are truly a Southern treasure. They grow only in the South. They are thick skinned, very pulpy, and grow in loose clusters on the vine. They thrive in our hot, humidsummers
wheras other types of grapes fail without constant attention. Muscadines even grow wild in the woods here. Just one more benefit of living in the South!
Our Muscadine wine tastes just like eating fresh fruit right off the vine. It is very unique and positively delicious. We also make Blackberry Muscadine, Blueberry Blush, and Georgia On My Mind, which are all muscadine wine with fruit blends. Muscadine wind is a Southern favorite and a Georgia Wines' Speciality! |
Muscadine Grapes |
Muscadine grapes (Vitis rotundifolia) are renowned for their delicious purple fruit. Muscadine grape vines are high climbing and do not have thorns. They are typically found in thickets and at the edge of woods.
Muscadine grapes are used to produce jelly, juice, and wine. Unripe muscadines are an excellent source of pectin. |
